The California Zephyr, one of the most famous passenger trains in North American railroading, offered service between Chicago and San Francisco from 1949 until 1970. Traveling more than 2,500 miles in just over two days, passengers of the CZ enjoyed breathtaking scenery and excellent service. With newly tooled cars, this set recreates the first-year consist of the CZ with eight different car types. Each car features a silver corrugated-side body, accurate lettering, blackened metal wheels and Kato semi-automatic knuckle couplers. The Observation car features lighted tail lights, marker light and tail sign.
